Pupils and Family Holidays in Term Time

It is a legal requirement for parents/carers to obtain the permission of the Head Teacher before removing their child from school in order to take any leave in term time.

Parents do not have an automatic right to take their children out of school for leave during term time and may be issued with a Penalty Notice (£80 per parent, per child) if they do so without prior arrangement with the Head Teacher.  From September 2024, the UK Government has updated their position on absence in term time and robust procedures must be adhered to in UK schools. St Chad's RC Primary follows this guidance in line with Manchester Local Authority Attendance Team, who will take necessary actions for unauthorised and regular absences in term time, including holidays and trips abroad in the UK.  The school Governor Policy follows the gudelines from the Department of Education and Manchester Local Authority.

School wishes to work with parents to secure quality educational provision for their children and this can only happen when they attend school regularly.  Parents can speak to us in school if they feel they need support in promoting good attendance with their child.  We are happy to assist wherever possible.
