Year 1 2020 - 2021
Welcome to Year 1's class page
Teachers - Ms Patel
Welcome to the Summer Term! We have an exciting term ahead where we will continue to develop and embed our skills across the curriculum.
We will be learning about the Resurrection and Pentecost in RE lessons where we will find out about how Jesus' friends spread the Good News. In English we will embed our reading and writing skills by following Read, Write Inc. In maths we will learn about multiplication and division, which will help us to understand fractions. We will find out about position and direction. Science lessons will focus on how plants grow well. We will use the PicCollage app to improve our computing skills whilst presenting our learning. We will learn about deserts, rainforests, coasts and cities in Geography. In Design Technology we will be creating moving pictures and we will continue to learn about different styles of music in our music lesson, finding out about rhythm and melody.
Please note - Our PE days will be Wednesday and Friday, so the children are welcome to wear PE kits to school for the full day. (White t-shirt, Navy/Black Shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms) Please allow your child to bring a water bottle to school, especially as the weather is becoming warmer.
Homework will be given out on a Friday (Maths and English) and should be completed for Monday. We would like this to be completed on Seesaw where possible, however there will be access to paper copies for those who need it.
The children all have a reading book which is linked to their phonics knowledge. This book will be changed when the children begin a new book in phonics lessons. Please hear your child read each night at home and sign their reading record afterwards. It is important that your child has their reading record in school every day. Books to read online can be accessed on Bug Club. Times tables rockstars and Numbots are also available online.
Please check your homework books for log in details.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
