Online Safety

Welcome to our Internet Safety page, where you can find e-safety tips, advice and resources to help you stay safe on the internet.

Technology has become integral to young people's lives and it is important that they know how to stay safe online and make the most of the opportunities that the internet provides. Whether you are a young person, parent or carer, or working with children, there are lots of resources to help.

Children

Technology can be a great way to learn and keep in touch with friends. However, it is important that you stay safe wehn you are online. The SMART rules we use in school and the guide below can help you when exploring the internet, online gaming or using apps.

Parents

Parents and carers play a key role in supporting children to learn about how to stay safe online, and they are one of the first people children turn to if things go wrong. We know it can be difficult to stay on top of the wide range of sites and devices that young people use, so we hope that the following advice helps.

Four steps:

  1. Have ongoing conversations with your children about staying safe online
  2. Use safety tools on social networks and other online services, eg Facebook privacy settings
  3. Decide if you want to use parental controls on your home internet
  4. Understand devices and the parental control tools they offer in our Parents' Guide to Technology

If you have any questions about online safety please do not hesistate to come into school and speak to our Computing and deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead Mrs Carlson. She has access to guides for parents on a range of apps and popular websites and can help you to set up preantal restrictions on your home devices.
