Teacher Mrs Bills
Hello and welcome to Year 4!
This half term in English, we will be studying persuasive writing and linking our learning to Geography. In Maths we will be focusing on our timestables to help prepare the children for their Year 4 timestables test later in the year. We will be furthering our knowledge of multiplication and division.
In R.E, we will celebrating being part of a community and exploring life in the local Christian community and ministries in the Parish. In Geography, we will be learning about rivers and the water cycle. This half term our Science topic is Electricity. The children will have the opportunity to investigate circuits and materials that conduct electricity. We will learn about what safety measures we must take to stay safe.
Reading
Your child has been provided an appropriate reading book based on the Accelerated Reader assessment. Please read and sign the child's reading record when they have read the book and send it back to school so that they can take the Accelerated Reader quiz linked to the book. Then they will be given a new book. It is expected that children in Key Stage 2 read for at least 20 minutes each night.
Homework
English and Maths homework will be assigned Friday and should be completed by Monday. Children are able to complete their homework online through Seesaw or on the paper.
P.E Kits
Every Wednesday, Year 4 will have P.E. Please ensure that your child comes to school with their PE kit on.
The school PE kit consists of a plain white t-shirt, a pair of black shorts and a pair of pumps. We will be doing P.E. outside whenever possible so the children can wear black or navy tracksuit bottoms / leggings and a black or navy tracksuit top / sweatshirt / hoodie.
Swimming Notice
Year 4 will be going swimming on Thursdays; the children are to bring their swimwear and a towel in a bag to change into. The children need suitable swimwear and a swimming cap.
