Autumn Term

In our first half term we will be learning about the topic of Ancient Egypt in History. We will also be studying Electricity in Science, while in R.E we will be studying Jesus’s Family and deepening our knowledge of other religions by looking at Judaism.

Within our second half term we will be learning about different Cities, town and Villages within the UK in Geography. In Science we will be looking at the different States of Matter. Whilst in R.E we will be looking at the topic of belonging and Advent in the lead up to Christmas.

Please see the attached yearly overview for more information on the subjects we will be studying.

Reading Spine

This year we have a number of class books which we will be reading at the end of each day, these include:

  • Charlotte’s Web
  • Bills New Frock
  • Why the Whales Came
  • The Firework-Maker’s Daughter
  • Perry Angel’s Suitcase
  • Voices in the Park

The children will be given weekly homework of Maths, English and Spellings. These are set on a Monday and should be returned the following Thursday.

Children also take home a reading book which should be read at home, to evidence this reading the Reading Diary should be dated and signed.

Throughout this year we will be learning our times tables up to 12x12 as these need to be known fluently. Relevant testing at home in relation to times tables would be very helpful to the children.

Correct uniform is to be worn for school. Swimming kits are needed every Tuesday, these include a swimming costume, towel and swimming cap (if the child has hair long enough to cover their eyes). Jewellery is not allowed to be worn in school.
