Thank you for a great start to the year. The children have settled in well and have been working really hard. Our highlights of the half term have been creating stick characters (inspired by the Stick Man story) and tasting Challah bread when we learned about Shabbat. It tasted delicious !
Next half term:
In Religion we will look at the Signs and symbols used in baptism.
In English we will foster a love of reading by looking at a variety of fiction, non fiction and poetry books. We will write in sentences using the correct punctuation and the cursive script. In our Grammar work we will learn what nouns, adjectives and verbs are, and how to spot them in a sentence.
In Maths we will count to 100 in 1s, 5s and 10s - forwards and backwards. and starting from different numbers. We will count in odd and even numbers too. We will be able to recognise what each number means in a 2 digit number and we will know addition and subtraction facts to 10 and 20.
In our Science work we will study Materials. We will be able to name different materials and look at how they can be changed.
In History we will study Bonfire Night and The Great Fire of London. In Art we will be sketching different animals in a contrasting environment. Our IT work is based on the Sketch Nation app.
P.E is on Wednesday and Thursday. The children should come to school in their P.E kits on those days.The school P.E kit is a plain white t-shirt, a pair of black or navy shorts and black pumps.
Reading books - the children have been given a reading book to take home to read.Please bring the book to school each day. Please remember to sign your child's reading record book when you have heard them read.
Spellings will be given out on Monday and will be tested on Thursday.
Homework will be given out on Monday to be returned on Thursday.
