This term in Year 2

 The children are beginning to settle in to Year 2 with new routines and strands of learning. We have already began learning our 3 times tables and are becoming familiar with non-fiction texts such as non-chronological reports and instructions.

We are very lucky that our first topic in RE is ‘beginnings’ and the children have enjoyed looking at God's wonderful world and the Creation story.

In guided reading we have been reading diifferent texts and over the course of the week we discuss important words from each text and define their meanings, complete comprehension questions, sequence the events in the correct order, make inferences on what we have read and make predictions. These skills will help get us ready for our SATs in May 2019.

In Year 2 I will hand out Maths, English and spelling homework out on a Monday. The homework will be sent out in the purple homework book and is to be returned on Friday, the spelling test will be taken on a Friday morning. 

Reading books will be changed on a weekly rota, please read with your child every night and sign their planner when you have done so. Please make sure your child brings their book to school every day incasse of extra  reading opportunities. 

PE for this term will take place on a Friday afternoon so please make sure your child/children have their PE kits in school.

The celebration assembly will take place on a Friday where the hildren will have opportunities to earn certificates for ex cellet effort, manners, behaviour, work and there will also be a Star Writer chsen every two weeks.  Keep an eye out for any certificates coming home.
