Geography Field trip

Class: Year 5 Year: 2015-2016

On Thursday we went on a fabulous field trip to 7 Acres Nature Reserve in Bolton, we were able to explore the nature reserve and even got in the river to measure the current using rubber ducks!

During the day, we were able to sample the wildlife in the river using a "kickback" sample and while pond dipping we found a water beetle that breathes through it's tail.  We even caught a fish!

Exploring the woodland habitat was very interesting and we found some "sticky back" plants and worked together to build some shelters.

It was a very educational trip and for a number of children was their first visit to a nature reserve and river.

Year 5 would definitely recommend 7 acres for a geography field trip, Kyle said "It was an amazing day." and Aamira told us that she "learnt about what lives in the river."
